Men’s Social Group

Especially for male carers in the Wigan Borough, the Carers Centre now has a Men’s Social Group that meet on the first Thursday of every month.

If you are male carer why not come along to this informal get together for a brew and meet other carers. No need to book just come along on the day.

Saturday Social Walk for Carers

Join us for a couple of hours on one of our Social Walk for Carers walks. There is lots to see and enjoy along the way, taken at a leisurely pace to suit everyone. You can also bring a family member or a friend along.

Kick Off Your Shoes And Dance- Dates Now Finalised

Every day brings a chance for you to draw in a breath, kick off your shoes, and dance.”  Opray Winfrey

The Carers Centre is really excited to be able to offer carers this fantastic opportunity to do exactly that, come along and join in the exciting world of dance.

The sessions will include Latin Line Dance ( cha cha cha and Jive) and are suitable for absolute beginners or someone that has tried it before. It does not require a partner and the only thing you will need to bring is the willingness to give it a go and have fun.

 

Second course ( six sessions) starts on:

Dates: June 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, July 6th

Time: 11.00am- 12.00pm

Venue: Hurst Dance Studios, 51 Market Street, Hindley Wigan

The sessions are part of the Carers Health and Wellbeing Programme

Would you be interested in coming along to one of the  New Art Workshops being planned for carers?

The Carers centre is taking names of carers that would be interested in coming along to a variety of art sessions ( subject to funding). No experience required.

The Reading Group is Back

Thanks to the Reader Organisation we are delighted to welcome back

The Reading Group here at the Carers Centre.

Keeping the same day as before the  group will be held each week  starting on Wednesday 10th August at 11.00am-12.30pm.

Anyone wishing to attend the group can just turn up on the day and will be made very welcome.

Social Media Support

Book a  Free one to one support session on Tuesday afternoons here at the Carers Centre with Mark which could include how to use a laptop and  an iPad.

Do you want to learn how to send emails, book things on line, how to use the internet or put your CV on the Job universal  website? Or maybe how to keep in touch with friends. This service has been extended to show carers how they can access the new Wigan Council Community Book.

Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust

NEW WLCT Lifestyle Card+1. This card allows support workers, personal assistants and carers to use the gym and pool in WLCT Leisure Centres while in their supportive role. You can apply for this by downloading the WLCT Lifestyle Plus 1 application and taking the form to any of the Leisure Centre receptions.
