Opportunity to take part in a research programme
What is the project about?
We want to find out more about the lives and experiences of people receiving and providing adult social care in the Scholes area. The research will be used by Wigan Council to support future planning for social care.
The work is being undertaken by ESRO, a social research company based in London. They specialise in doing ‘ethnography’, which basically means they spend time with people and try to see life through their eyes. They don’t just come with a clipboard and a list of quick questions. Instead, by staying with people for a few hours at a time, they get to know what they really think and what their lives are really like.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for people who live in the Scholes area and who are willing to have a researcher spend some time with them. The researcher will simply spend a few hours with you and try and learn what your everyday life looks like, and ask you how you feel about certain things.
They won’t interfere with your daily routines and will respect your privacy. Everything you say will be confidential and all information you provide will be presented anonymously.
The research is completely voluntary – although there is a small payment to you to cover any expenses etc. The research is also a chance for you to have your voice heard about any issues or problems you might want to talk about.
